IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The University of Virginia Reactor, which first was operated in 1960, was operated for the last time on June 30, 1998. All reactor fuel has been shipped from the site and the decommissioning process has been started. NRC approval of the facility decommissioning plan is expected during the last quarter of 2001 and decommissioning is expected to be complete by late 2002 or early 2003. The company CH2M-HILL has been selected as the decommissioning contractor. The infomation about the facility that was previously on this site has been removed.
